Some characters (especially one Neal Foster) have a nasty habit of withholding the truth, or being misleading.  Sometimes they do it to hide unpleasant parts of their past, and sometimes it's a game to keep others occupied while they hide things in plain sight.

In the Tales of the Folly series, these are commonly referred to as "methods".  The methods are only detailed in chapter 2, and only in a single very short scene, so their constant use throughout the later chapters can get a little confusing.

For reference:

  • The "first method" is a blatant lie.
  • The "second method" is a partial truth, usually leaving out some critical information; can be very misleading.
  • The "third method" is the full truth, but said as a sarcastic confession that's hard to believe.
